Unconventional Valentine.
Once in a blue moon, I get incredibly excited about Valentine's Day. This year, I'm getting excited about this entire week. And now, in my giddy state of mind, I give you three unconventional stores to find your Valentine's Day present in:
1. The Campus Bookstore:
There are many couples out there doing long distance while in college. The campus bookstore is the perfect place to find cute college apparel, or at least a souvenir representing your school of choice. It's a great way to make your significant other feel more connected, especially if you dab a bit of perfume or wear the item once before handing it to them, making it smell like you. The campus bookstore is great even for those who attend the same school (college apparel is expensive and one may wish to have more school-spirited clothes, but isn't willing to put in the financial resources), as well as for those who are college sweethearts (such an item will bring back fond memories).
2. Walgreens:
This is the perfect place to go for really cheap photo prints! Some present ideas include: a collage of photographs, a personalized card, poster, or canvas print. For those of you that are incredibly artistic (such as my roommate), making a card in Photoshop or any other computer program is a great idea! A cool picture of your special someone's favorite band, book, or TV show turned into a poster is also a great present idea. As for canvas prints, think in terms of something that has brought that has spoken to you throughout your relationship. If there's a poem you both enjoy, or if you've sent each other letters or emails and found yourselves lingering over a specific sentence or expression one of you used, print it out on canvas!
3. Dollar Tree:
Last, but not least, there's the Dollar Tree. Sadly, only a small amount of people take advantage of this valuable resource. Okay, you can't rely on this place for a quality present, but it's incredibly helpful when it comes to creating a romantic atmosphere. Candles, streamers, fake rose petals, Valentine's gift bags, and, of course, Valentine's day balloons! These are all great little touches that you can add to your home in order to make the holiday even more special. In case you don't get to spend Valentine's in the physical presence of your loved one, any one of these gifts also makes an amazing stocking stuffer.
In my opinion, the perfect all-around Valentine's gift is a combination of items from each of the places mentioned above. Hopefully this post has given you at least a slight idea of where to start looking for gifts for that special someone :)
Cheers!
