Hello, beautiful people!

I'm really excited to share this outfit with you, as it is one of my favorite looks from this summer! I wore it out shopping last weekend and felt pretty badass while at it. No matter how much orange we're digging lately, black will always be the new black, and black and white will always be the most classic combination.
While working on decluttering my wardrobe and building it up with stronger/more timeless pieces, I realized that black and white are two of my dominant wardrobe colors, and the style I most identify with is classic. I also bought the special edition People StyleWatch to verify my observations, and yes, out of all the looks featured, I was most drawn to the classics (though I would add a touch of the feminine and cool girl look to the mix). My challenge, from now on, is to take the classics and make them modern. Challenge accepted.
For this look, I was feeling a bit experimental. This cutout top was purchased in California last year and though it's pretty intricate, it's also surprisingly versatile and one of my go-to pieces. I was really feeling the black and white look, but didn't want it looking too mod. Enter the concept of texture play- sheer top + faux leather studded flats + feather earrings and voila! I've got myself a perfect shopping outfit. Also very practical, since it's really easy to take everything off when trying on outfits!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hi, everyone!

I wore this outfit to the movies last week, and it just shouted 'SUMMER' from the moment I put it on! I haven't worn these cute necklaces in ages, and was so surprised to see that they went together with my adorable earrings (courtesy of boyfriend) so well! All the necklaces are missing is the orange, but oh well- you can't really notice it.

This entire look just made me feel like a jolly good walking fiesta, not to mention the jeans are really flattering in the backside area. Basically, an outfit full of wins.

Thank you so much for stopping by! :)

P.S. The out-of-focus look? Totally intentional. Not my little brother being silly and a bit blind. Nope. Not at all.

I've been spending a lot of time in yoga class lately, and every time I work on my breath, I'm supposed to visualize the air filling up my lungs and thinking of a mantra to repeat in my head. For me, that mantra is "It's almost over." It feels so ironic and counterproductive to be trying to slow down my thoughts and be mindful and in the present while constantly repeating something that sounds so rushed and impatient. This semester has just been dragging on and on, and the sophomoreitis I'm suffering from is so intense that I just need a lot of medication (and by medication I mean a trip to Los Angeles to see a cute boyfriend and eat macaroons- oh wait, that's ACTUALLY HAPPENING soon!).

This month, my outfits have been filled with as much color, or shine, or combination of both as possible. Faking it till I make it has never felt more difficult, but I'm so grateful for the power of clothes! It's all about perspective. Yes, that particular day may have been gray, but all it needed was a bit of sparkle. Don't give up quite yet, overworked college students. We're all in this together!

Thank you so much for stopping by! :)

On Friday, I went back to my girly ways in order to get through the day. I believe that my clothes are a direct representations of my feelings- or, at least, where I'm trying to be at with my feelings- during a certain time frame. I'm the type of girl who will always dress up during finals week in an attempt to fail stylishly (though, let's be honest, I always end up doing well on finals). The week before finals, however, you can tell how drowned in my misery I am by how gym rat-looking my OOTD is.

Since Fridays are my short days and I get out before 11 a.m., my outfit called for a celebration! Pastel colors kept my spirit warm while my physical self was freezing its bottom off from the unexpectedly cold Las Cruces weather. I'm a huge advocate of switching up color choices and adapting them to the season they least match in theory. An eternally black palette keeps me forever grounded in the winter mindset, whereas soft pinks and grays allow me to drift back to summer days and the feel of sunshine on my arms.

I can't wait for spring and summer to be here again.... so then I can defy the rules and wear all of the dark colors, all of the time.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope you're all keeping warm :)
