I purchased this dress a few years back, mostly because it was just $5. I've only worn it twice throughout the years, but as I grow older, the dress grows on me. I see this dress as being an All-American girl style, with the gingham print and cute bow detail. Since the dress is so print-heavy, it was balanced out by classic colors for all the accessories. For fall and winter, I would add regular black tights and a skintight black turtleneck for a cozier look. I can't wait to style this dress as winter approaches!

With summer vacation coming to an end, I felt the need to gather all the color I possibly could and wear a rainbow-vomit outfit of sorts. This dress is probably the most colorful thing I own, so I went ahead and made it even MORE colorful with strappy sandals and a bolero. The sequins were a must. After all, go big or go home!

I'm slowly but surely stepping out of my comfort zone in terms of color palettes, but as fall approaches, I'm probably gonna run back to my trusty neutrals, at least to some extent. For now, I'm enjoying the last colorful, sunny days of summer vacation! Next week I'm starting my semester in California and I'm so excited I can barely control myself. It's also going to be a great mix-and-match fashion challenge, since I'm only bringing one suitcase of clothing! Here's to versatile pieces!

I truly wish I had time to write an actual post, but between work, packing for back-to-college season, and hanging out with the boyfriend, it seems like there aren't enough hours in the day; that everything is rushed. Next week I'm heading out to California for a lovely, sunny semester. Until then, I'll be constantly stressing out about move-in day and how unorganized everything is. I can't wait for it to finally be over and for classes to start. Having to call so many school departments has been the biggest pain, and I'm just ready to enjoy my time there and make the most of the experience.

In terms of outfit choice, I'd like to point out the skinny pants. I found these in my mother's closet and decided she had passed the appropriate age to be wearing them. Therefore, here they are, paired with my super cheap Charlotte Russe blouse and a simple black tank. In the beginning, I wasn't a huge fan of the shoes. I bought them after mother went on and on about how cute and ladylike they were, and, well, let's just say I couldn't escape the wrath. Lately, however, I've come to realize that they're really comfortable AND cute, so they've grown on me a lot. Payless is doing great in terms of shoes lately, with Brash, American Eagle, and Christian Siriano stocking up the shelves. I would recommend it. Some shoes run as cheap as $10, and they are incredibly cute and comfortable.

Back in the day when I was obsessing over Tumblr, I came across this picture of a girl wearing a strapless top, matched with a necklace made with golden leaves. I reblogged it as inspiration, but never actually expected to come across something similar. Fast-forward a couple of weeks, and there it was- the Tumblr necklace's silver twin, shining at me inside a Santa Fe Rue21 store. I'm not one to spend large sums of money for costume jewelry, so it was a relief to see that the price tag was only $2! Rue21 has some of the best sales in terms of costume jewelry. I have a lot of statement necklaces from them, most of them purchased for $2-$3 a piece on sale. It's the perfect place to shop for accessories as a poor college student, as the cute, trendy pieces can give any wardrobe a quick upgrade.

My favorite piece from today's look is this pair of wedges that I managed to convince mother to let me have. A couple of years ago, one of my aunts bought comfortable wedges for basically every woman in my family except for the only one that actually wears heeled shoes a lot- me. They've been laying around the closet ever since, so I decided to try them on, and, surprise! They fit like a dream/match a bunch of my clothes/ are incredibly comfortable! I don't even understand why I go shopping in stores sometimes. A trip through all my family members' closets seems much more appropriate for my current financial situation.

Lately, I've been trying really hard to allow more of the items in my closet to see the light of day. After going through some major summer wardrobe cleaning in late July, I realized how many clothes I truly own. Therefore, my mission for the year is to wear every item I own at least once until next summer. Realistically, that won't happen, but at least I can change things up a bit now that I've (re)discovered things I've never even worn before.

This conservative length skirt is one of the gems I found during my closet conquering endeavor. I found it to be a bit too grandma-y, and, while I enjoy those types of clothes, I usually balance them out with something trendier/more youthful. Enter crop top and feather earrings, which made for the perfect summer afternoon outfit!

Stay tuned for more looks featuring long lost and most likely thrifted items in my closet!

Thank you for stopping by my blog!
