The Story

Today's vibe is ready-to-sleep complete with under eye bags and 5 layers of blanket because it's too freaking cold. Therefore, in an effort to save myself and actually get a decent amount of sleep, there will be no story associated with this blog post. Let's have the multitude of pictures that I couldn't narrow down do all the talking. After all, this look is just too cool for words.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

The Story

While looking through my camera last week, I came across these photos- taken a couple of nights before I headed back from my summer in LA. I completely forgot they existed, and to be honest- extreme reaction, I know- they nearly made me cry.

I miss it there. I miss all of the streets being different. I miss being inspired by all the city's murals. I miss being inspired by my beautiful co-workers and their distinct styles, and by my amazing boyfriend and his artsy crew.

I'm not trying to hate on the Land of Entrapment. It has its charm, and maybe right now I take it for granted. I'm sure just visiting it would have been really impressive. But for now, it's not the place for me. It feels dry and unwelcoming, like it's slowly sucking the energy out of me.

But for now, I'm left with the memory of this fun night, and the motivation I remember having throughout my stay there. The motivation I remember having at the beginning of the semester.

I'm combating my lack of inspiration by diving deep into everything- school, work, life- and forever dressing up and blogging.

I'm excited for what comes after the slump. Getting there is the tough part, but they say it's all about the journey. I'm kind of skeptical, but hopefully they'll be right.

I'll be here. Thanks for stopping by.

If I had a dollar for every time I've purchased amazing shoes from Plato's Closet, I'd probably be able to purchase even more amazing shoes. I've probably went on a mini Plato's Closet rant on different occasions, but I need to reiterate: 'tis the place to shop at.
Another awesome place to shop at? Old Navy. Especially for jeans. Let's just take a moment to love on the perfect boyfriend jeans, that basically feel like PJ's but look put together enough that you wouldn't get judged for wearing them to Walmart, or anywhere else for that matter. Along with the boyfriends, the Rockstar skinny jeans are worth looking into- my favorite affordable jeans ever!

And how about we go 3 for 3 tonight and I tell you guys about one last awesome place to shop at? Okay? Okay. Sole Society it is! This bag was my first purchase with them, but I will definitely be returning to the website- quality product and quality service are my type of deal!

Hello, lovely people!

It's been a while since I've been able to take a moment, breathe, and do some blogging. While everyone around me seems to be getting busier, my semester is (finally) slowing down and I have no shame in admitting my daily activities= sleep and hardcore Law&Order: SVU marathons. I guess that's the upside to torturing myself towards the beginning of the semester.

Since I came back to school, it's been difficult not only to find time for blogging, but especially for outfit posts- there's a select number of people that I feel comfortable asking for help, most of whom are not currently around the area/ not able to help cause they have their own lives and schedules, so I was pumped when my beautiful coworker (you rock, Jocelyn!!!) took me up on a quick photo shoot during our girls' day shopping trip.

I've been rocking this scarf quite frequently since fall began, and I even turned it into a toga for a party (though now there's pin marks in it and I'm not particularly happy about that). I can't remember where I got my hands on this beauty, but I thiiiiiiiink it might be one of the (high number of) scarfs that my grandma received as a present at some point and decided to share. Few things make me happier than my grandma getting scarfs as presents- my family has great taste, and my grandma always feels generous towards her youngest granddaughter :)
This particular day was my button down's death day. After wearing it one last time, I finally parted with one of my best wardrobe friends. You can't tell in the photos, but I've my mom has stitched the crap out of the back of this, since it started ripping about a year ago. It really was time to say goodbye!

And for now, it's my time to say goodbye to you all! Thank you so much for stopping by, and I promise I can't wait to be able to spend more time working on my little blog and finding new victims volunteers to help document my outfit posts!

Have a lovely evening!

Hey, everyone!

The day has finally come to show you guys my very simple, very me outfit of the day. Not only do I have my near and dear nautical theme going on (yup, again...), but in terms of where this outfit was acquired, I feel like I'm going back to my roots!

I admit that ever since I went off to college, I found myself in a bit of a mall rut. It's incredibly easy to get caught up in all the fresh-off-the-press clothing items, especially when you're surrounded by girls looking super cute in their new crop tops and Palazzo pants in class. And this isn't to say that these new items don't have their merit- I'm a victim of the crop top, and if they weren't so cute they wouldn't have this much of a following.

However, few feelings compare to the times when your friends ask where you got something and you can say you got them for some ridiculously low price at a garage sale. (Exhibit A: earrings for about 25 cents).

I miss hardcore thrifting- not just my favorites like Plato's Closet and Buffalo Exchange, but actually having to rummage through hangers for hidden treasures in a good ol' traditional thrift store/garage sale. Going back to more conscious shopping (for myself and the environment) is a big goal of mine for the new school year (also supporting local and indie vendors). There's nothing like cute clothes that no one else is likely to own! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Back in the day when I was obsessing over Tumblr, I came across this picture of a girl wearing a strapless top, matched with a necklace made with golden leaves. I reblogged it as inspiration, but never actually expected to come across something similar. Fast-forward a couple of weeks, and there it was- the Tumblr necklace's silver twin, shining at me inside a Santa Fe Rue21 store. I'm not one to spend large sums of money for costume jewelry, so it was a relief to see that the price tag was only $2! Rue21 has some of the best sales in terms of costume jewelry. I have a lot of statement necklaces from them, most of them purchased for $2-$3 a piece on sale. It's the perfect place to shop for accessories as a poor college student, as the cute, trendy pieces can give any wardrobe a quick upgrade.

My favorite piece from today's look is this pair of wedges that I managed to convince mother to let me have. A couple of years ago, one of my aunts bought comfortable wedges for basically every woman in my family except for the only one that actually wears heeled shoes a lot- me. They've been laying around the closet ever since, so I decided to try them on, and, surprise! They fit like a dream/match a bunch of my clothes/ are incredibly comfortable! I don't even understand why I go shopping in stores sometimes. A trip through all my family members' closets seems much more appropriate for my current financial situation.

Thank you for reading!
