The Details

The Story
If I was a celebrity, this would be one of those outfits that would get me body shamed like none other. I hope this is an exaggeration and I'm overestimating how awful people can be, but I don't think I am. Luckily, I'm just another college girl on the interwebz, so here's to being anonymous enough that nobody cares.

But let's talk about this look, because I've never worn anything like this. Crop tops have always been my number one, but they've always been complimented by a high-waisted bottom. I'm not sure if it was my boyfriend's presence (finally got to see him this weekend after 2 months), the summer weather and fall landscape that have been plaguing the area, or the simple need for a change, but this look felt refreshing. It made me feel inspired, happy and confident.

...also made me get pumped about blogging again. Sorry about that, by the way! It's just been really difficult to find someone willing and able to take my photos, and I'd rather have a few qualitative looks than a bunch of pictures I take in my dorm room.

It's been a while since I've actively allowed myself to take time and put together a cute, girly and print-tastic outfit. I figured an El Paso day date with my favorite guy would be the prime time for that.
This crop top is one of my prized possessions- I saw it in Seventeen magazine (before I finally took the leap and cancelled my subscription- cause really, I'm way too old to be reading about teenage issues). Anyway, I went to the store, magazine in hand, and was beyond ecstatic to find that they didn't only have the top, but they had it in my favorite pile (hint: the one that starts with S and ends with E).
This outfit has me reminiscing about the time I would spend hours stalking everything Annasophia Robb wore on The Carrie Diaries. Is anyone else bitter that show got cancelled? Over a year later and I still can't get over it. I guess all that's left to do is draw inspiration from the past.
That's all I have for tonight, guys! That and a special hello to my dad, who apparently finally came across my blog and is now an avid reader. HI, DAD!
Thank you so much for stopping by!

Here is another look from my Thanksgiving break spent in Santa Fe. Usually, this would be far off anything I would wear on a day-to-day basis (all the places I interact with on a constant basis- southern NM, Texas, LA- are known for being on the warmer side of the spectrum). However, this coat is something I've been having to pull out a lot recently, even in Las Cruces, where nowadays you can't tell if by noon you'll need a coat or a spaghetti strap.

Speaking of coats, this little number and I were meant to be. I walked into a Forever 21 set on finding something cheap and practical and not bulky. I HATE winter clothes and layering, so I always need to quadruple think about the purchases I make and ensure that I actually like them enough to wear them. Anyway, this beauty happened to be the deal of the week- about $22, give or take.

The only one left was on the mannequin, and should I choose to ask someone to take it down, I had to buy it- no matter if it did not fit me. I didn't wanna risk spending money on something ill-fitting, so I decided to drown my sorrows in the fitting room with the help of about 10 other beautiful things. Long story short- as I was parting ways with at least 8 items and drowning in more tears, it was right there staring me in the eyes: my lovely red coat, exactly the size I needed (one size larger than the one on the mannequin). Can you say match made in heaven?!?

I left bae behind for winter break while I take in some sun smog in lovely Los Angeles. Though I'm already deep in some winter break adventures, I still have 3 papers to go until the semester ends. Fingers crossed those motivation levels stay decent!

I hope everyone is having a great finals week/beginning of winter break! Thank you for stopping by!

Hi, everyone!

First off, can I just say that my little brother is rocking this whole photography shenanigan? He's only 10 and I think he's doing a pretty good job- except for when we have creative differences. Sometimes he insists to take photos his way because "what I do is art, so I should get to choose how it's done, and I want it to look good. I would never look at pictures the way you want them done." Yup, he's a feisty little fellow.

I'd like to mention two things in particular about this outfit:
1. My super gorgeous ring from Mexico. I looked all over for something handmade and different from what you'd usually see, and finally came across this gem. It was really difficult since most of the shops had all of the generic touristy things.
2. These shoes. I cannot get over how practical these are! They're super comfy, make me feel tall without looking ridiculous in a casual environment, and go with pretty much everything! I've always found the most amazing deals at Plato's Closet and I cannot even express the extent of my love for that store. And Plato's Closet in Texas is so much better than the one in New Mexico! Love love love!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope your day is going lovely!

Outfit: The Boyfriend Look.

I've never been a fan of mixing TOO many relaxed/rugged-looking pieces, but for comfort (and not shaving)'s sake, I decided to give it a go for today's outfit. I find that Aeropostale has a great selection of all things relaxed and cute! I purchased this baseball top last year, for somewhere around $10, I believe, and it's been a great go-to for those I'm-lazy-but-I-still-wanna-look-sort-of-girly days. The boyfriend jeans are a closet staple, always ready to be dressed up or down. I'm particularly fond of my $2 Rue 21 necklace, which can be worn with SO MANY COLORS, it's a bit insane. Rue 21 always has some great costume jewelry finds for about $2-5 when on sale, and I find that, if cared for, they can last at least two years. Definitely something to check out if you're in the habit of overspending on costume jewelry!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
