The Details

The Story

Around the beginning of high school, I bought this deep red hoodie with some Michael Jackson-esque shoulder details (see here). My mother swore that I would never wear it, but oh how wrong she was! Because you see, I have a fatal attraction to tacky sweaters- particularly, the ones that go just a wee bit over the top in shoulder detailing.

Enter this gem of a cardi that I found during work at Crossroads Trading Co. I stole so many glances until I finally gave in and purchased it, and I haven't looked back. There are very few things in life that bring me as much joy as tacky rhinestones on a chunky cardigan. What are some of your weird fashion obsessions?

Hello, everyone! Normally I'd be a woman of many words, but I'm having too much fun cuddling and exploring with my boyfriend, who's visiting for the week! We explored a bit of downtown Boerne, TX last night, which is where these photos were taken, Such a cute little small town!

As for the outfit, I guess you could consider this to be a part of the 'thrifted' series. I've been obsessively relying on my mall clothes lately, in an effort to better fit into the college environment, I suppose. Coming home has forced me to go back to my garage sale and thrift shop roots, and I've been enjoying it quite immensely.

To jump right into this post- I don't believe the pictures do this look justice. It's just so quintessentially off-duty and casual, and so misrepresented by the background and color choices, and I'm actually pretty upset by that. Alas, I wanted to share it with everybody, so here it is.

Being home for summer is a bit of a drag because there's nothing to dress up for. I come from the land of socks and sandals and Starbucks as the main town attraction, so you can only imagine. I actually dragged myself out of the house today and had somewhat of a social life (partially at Starbucks, of course), so what better way to approach small town social gatherings than with comfy sneakers and basically the comfiest, most perfect thrifted T-shirt ever? (Thanks mom!)

Speaking of thanking mothers, if you've been following my impure thoughts about my mother's bag rants, you will be pleased to know that they are now a thing of the past because.... I've defeated the matriarchy. I am now the proud owner of best oversize basic bag ever! I'll (legally) drink to that!

Greetings, everybody! Following a semester of death, I'm finally able to post again, and have plenty a dreams for the future of my little corner of the internet. I'm looking forward to my new found free time, and the possibility of posting 3x/wk. in the near future. Working on the blog has become something so near and dear to my heart, and I'm going to continue full force with my newfound passion.

This first outfit post is just a basic comfy look that I put together quickly to go outside and film my little brother (he's really into movie making now). I've been giving these leggings plenty of love lately, and will probably continue to do so until the weather allows me to drown in pretty florals and summery dresses. I'm beyond excited for what is to come this summer! Stay tuned!

Outfit: Polka Dot Jeans and Thrifted Tops.

Around spring last year, I became infatuated with the polka dot jeans trend. The Marc by Marc Jacobs polka dot skinnies were my dream, but sadly, never my reality. I wanted to embrace the trend, but wasn't willing to/ didn't have hundreds of dollars to spend on it. So, I went to the mall with a goal- to satisfy my polka dot craving on an ambitious budget- under $20.

My first stop was Forever 21, which had the perfect Lily skinnies replica for a mere $32, but I resisted the urge. In a last attempt, I ended up in a Rue 21, and there they were....for $16.99. They actually ended up costing me only around $7 when I went to the cash register, which was AMAZING!

Today, these jeans may be past their trend prime, but they're so much more of a statement when you don't see them on every other girl in the room. I love the fact that, beyond simply being 'in', these jeans are so me!
