The Details

The Story

Around the beginning of high school, I bought this deep red hoodie with some Michael Jackson-esque shoulder details (see here). My mother swore that I would never wear it, but oh how wrong she was! Because you see, I have a fatal attraction to tacky sweaters- particularly, the ones that go just a wee bit over the top in shoulder detailing.

Enter this gem of a cardi that I found during work at Crossroads Trading Co. I stole so many glances until I finally gave in and purchased it, and I haven't looked back. There are very few things in life that bring me as much joy as tacky rhinestones on a chunky cardigan. What are some of your weird fashion obsessions?

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Good evening, everyone! How goes it? I just woke up from an unexpected nap, complete with super attractive drooling (a.k.a. I got knocked out without even realizing it cause I had exams two days in a row and was a walking zombie by that point). Now I'm counting down the minutes (55 at press time) until the new Law & Order: SVU episode starts because my habits are really unhealthy, guys.

Today's look is simple and non-fussy and just ready for a long day of school and work. My mom used to do that half ponytail thing to my hair back in the day, and it was feeling very flat the other day, so I decided to go down nostalgia road and pretend I'm 5 again.

I've been meaning to mess around with those super cute socks since I bought them about a semester ago, but it just didn't feel right- until yesterday, that is. These LC Lauren Conrad booties have been worn so much lately on their own, they were just ready for a bit of an update, and Target happily delivered. Overall, I was just in a comfy and cozy state of mind so a comfy and cozy outfit was the way to go!

45 minutes until Law & Order: SVU! Have a beautiful evening, party people!

Good evening, party people!

Just wanted to quickly stop by tonight and introduce you to two amazing items in my closet that I am really happy to be owning.

First of all, there is the Peter Som dress from his Kohl's collection. Well, this thing was expensive to begin with. Every single time I would go into Kohl's, I'd be eyeing this thing like it was the most massive Nutella crepe on the planet. Want. Need. Can't justify spending over $50 on a maxi dress.

And then sale season came around, and I found my precious. It was the last one left, and it was an XS, but I'm so glad I took it for a test drive. Much to my surprise, it was a great fit. I can't remember exactly what the end price was- definitely under $20, maybe under $15.

The second item I'm absolutely in love with is this bracelet I purchased over the summer at TJ Maxx. I'm a sucker for nautical items and they were carrying the cutest nautical themed costume jewelry, so I just had to indulge!

The weather has been super nice these past couple of days, so I'm taking advantage of all my maxi dresses- so perfect for getting through my school and work-filled day!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hi, everyone! Today I'm sharing one of my winter break outfits. I wore this for a stroll downtown with my little brother and boyfriend- a comfy little number for wandering around different stores. The earrings are one of my favorite finds- from the cheap jewelry store in Las Cruces (Eve's). I got them for a dollar and they're just precious!

Also worth noting are the leggings, which I've been wearing an obscene amount lately (mostly because nothing else fits me after the Christmas/New Year's Eve feast). Not to worry though, now that I'm back at school I'm definitely working on that.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope everyone has a happy and healthy new semester!

Wow, it has been forever since I've done one of these outfit posts, and I've missed it so much! It kind of seemed like a lost cause for a while, but then I had a coffee date with my lovely former suitemate (shoutout to you, Amanda) and she was kind enough to snap a few quickies of my Starbs date look.
It finally looks/feels-ish like fall here in southern NM, and I've been enjoying integrating long sleeves into my outfits (at least until noon when it gets toasty again). I got this gem of a top on sale at Rue21 for about $3 or so- cutest thing ever- and was excited to finally get a chance to wear it.

One last item to point out- HOW AMAZING IS THIS ALDO BAG?!? Came with the tag and everything at Plato's Closet for $20 and I regret NOTHING. And alright, one last LAST thing to point out- the Rockstar skinny jeans from Old Navy are the most perfect affordable pair of skinnies in the world.

That's it for tonight, folks! Swing by on Wednesday for a compilation of my favorite Oscar de la Renta designs- I found out a few hours ago about his passing away and it shattered my heart into many pieces.

Hello, everyone!

I'm finally back today with a new outfit post! It's been so hard trying to keep up with the blog, for multiple reasons. First of all, school's getting pretty crazy- everyone and their mother decided the next two weeks are perfectly appropriate to throw exams and projects our way, so I'm all over the place trying to study for everything. I'm always taking the maximum credit hours, too, and I work. It's sort of overwhelming at the moment.

Finding someone to take pictures has also been pretty difficult. I feel awkward asking my friends whenever we hang out because it feels like I'd be taking away from that time- also I don't want everyone thinking that's the only reason I want to hang out.
However, I've been working on some non-personal outfit content that hopefully proves to be useful to everybody, so I'll still be updating the blog regularly (maybe just not as idealistically regularly as I had originally planned).

Thank you for stopping by, even sporadically! I appreciate each and every one of you!

P.S. This outfit made me feel pretty badass. One of my favorites in a long time.

Outfit: Off-duty Casual.

To jump right into this post- I don't believe the pictures do this look justice. It's just so quintessentially off-duty and casual, and so misrepresented by the background and color choices, and I'm actually pretty upset by that. Alas, I wanted to share it with everybody, so here it is.

Being home for summer is a bit of a drag because there's nothing to dress up for. I come from the land of socks and sandals and Starbucks as the main town attraction, so you can only imagine. I actually dragged myself out of the house today and had somewhat of a social life (partially at Starbucks, of course), so what better way to approach small town social gatherings than with comfy sneakers and basically the comfiest, most perfect thrifted T-shirt ever? (Thanks mom!)

Speaking of thanking mothers, if you've been following my impure thoughts about my mother's bag rants, you will be pleased to know that they are now a thing of the past because.... I've defeated the matriarchy. I am now the proud owner of best oversize basic bag ever! I'll (legally) drink to that!

Thank you for stopping by!

If there's anyone who's made a successful career in mostly everything I have even a remote interest in, it's Lauren Conrad. She's written both fiction and nonfiction, she's held fashion internships, and now, she's designing her own collections! At 28, she's achieved much more than others may hope to achieve in a lifetime, and contrary to the general reality TV-star trend, she's managed to do so while staying true to herself and growing in knowledge rather than plastic surgeries.

I could ramble on and on about the many ways in which LC has and continues to inspire me. Recently, during an interview, she was asked what her favorite position was, and without missing a beat she answered CEO. Such a great answer, right? I just really cherish Lauren Conrad's presence in the world, and truly believe she's a great role model for girls everywhere!

I purchased the dress on sale at Kohl's for $12 and could not believe my luck! It was a size S, which under normal circumstances would be a wee bit tight, but somehow this particular dress fit like a charm. I've been wanting to own some LC by Lauren Conrad clothes for a while, but I've never been one to invest over $30 for a piece of clothing, so I waited it out. In the end, I'm glad I did. Along with this dress, I also purchased a blouse and a pair of jeggings for $12 each. They even gave me a $10 off coupon for future purchases, so naturally I went back and bought ANOTHER LC by Lauren Conrad dress.... for only $2. Now if that's not the best shopping day ever, I don't know what is!

I love LC! I love the fact that her clothes are cute, functional, and versatile. In every single collection, I've felt girl power vibes- I've felt encouraged to look my best for myself, in clothes that promote self-respect. And as a female in my young 20's, I believe it's something that should be more prominent within our current society.

Thank you for stopping by! :)
